Accounting Advisory Senior Consultant
Job Title: Accounting Advisory Senior Consultant Location: Los Angeles Henderson Drake is partnering with a fast-growing advisory firm to find a Senior Consultant who brings the technical accounting foundations and the client-facing presence to lead engagements where the stakes are high and the work demands precision. The firm sits at the centre of some of the most consequential transactions its clients will ever navigate. Pre-IPO businesses, publicly listed companies, and private equity-backed organisations each bring their own complexity, and the team built around M&A, carve-outs, and IPO readiness is expected to handle that complexity with authority. The accounting questions that arise in these situations rarely have a ready-made answer, and that is precisely the point. Founded by former Big Four professionals who chose depth and focus over scale, this is a firm where the work varies by design and the people doing it operate close to the decisions that matter most. For a Senior Consultant who wants genuine ownership of engagements and direct access to senior decision-makers, the conditions here are right. What you will be doing
- Lead client engagements spanning M&A, divestitures, IPO readiness, interim management, and technical accounting matters
- Review financial statements and SEC filings, identifying and addressing issues before they escalate
- Build financial models, forecasts, and supporting analyses that inform decisions at the highest level
- Work alongside client finance teams on business process improvement initiatives
- Serve as the primary connection between client senior management and their auditors
- Guide and develop engagement teams, maintaining quality and consistency from start to finish
- Cultivate and grow client relationships, recognising opportunities to add value beyond the immediate mandate
- Build recognised subject matter expertise in areas such as business combinations, revenue recognition, or stock-based compensation
- Contribute actively to firm-building initiatives including recruiting and strategic growth
What you will bring
- 4+ years in public accounting, audit, or accounting advisory
- CPA or MBA, with a degree in accounting
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- A demonstrable ability to manage concurrent engagements without losing quality or pace
- Confident, clear communication with boards, auditors, and senior finance leaders
- An entrepreneurial outlook and the willingness to go beyond the scope of individual engagements
- Flexibility to travel in line with client commitments
Why this opportunity
- Direct, sustained access to senior management on the transactions that define their businesses
- The room to build a recognised technical specialism within a practice that continues to grow
- Client relationships with genuine continuity, not anonymous rotation from one project to the next
- A firm where individual contributions shape the direction of the practice, not just its delivery
- An advisory culture that has consciously avoided the layers and bureaucracy typical of larger firms
