AI Data Scientist - USA
About The Role Cogniify is hiring an AI Data Scientist to build machine learning and NLP models that make our products more relevant and more personal for the people who use them. You will work hands-on with very large data sets, build and test predictive and recommender models, and run live experiments to check whether your work made a real difference. You will sit close to product managers, software engineers, and designers, so it helps if you enjoy talking through an idea and turning it into a small working version quickly. This is a remote role based in the United States, with working hours that overlap with Pacific Time preferred. Core skills for this role: Python, SQL, Hive, SparkSQL, scikit-learn, machine learning, statistical modeling, NLP, recommender systems, feature engineering, and A/B testing.
What You Will Do
Work hands-on with very large data sets, from initial exploration through to the finished production model. Use data mining, NLP, and both supervised and unsupervised machine learning to design, improve, and measure relevance and personalization across the customer journey. Work side by side with product managers, software engineers, and designers to plan experiments and build early versions of new ideas. Find the data you need, get access, bring it in, clean it up, and make it ready for modeling, including handling your own ETL in SQL, Hive, and SparkSQL. Build and improve features from raw data, combining domain knowledge with sound statistics so the model gets better with every round. Run A/B tests on a regular basis, collect the results, do the statistical analysis, and explain what your changes did to your peers and to leaders. Keep watching new design and technology trends in machine learning and AI, and work out how they could improve what customers get from us. What We Are Looking For A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, Data Science, or a similar technical field. At least 4 years of industry experience in data science and applied machine learning. At least 4 years of experience with modern analytics tools and programming languages, mainly Python (scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy) along with modern deep learning or NLP libraries. Strong skills in SQL, Hive, and SparkSQL for working with large-scale data. At least 4 years of applied machine learning and statistical modeling experience—such as classification, regression, decision trees, neural networks, recommender systems, sequential pattern discovery, and text mining—along with hands-on experience in deep learning and embedding-based representations for NLP, language understanding, recommendation, and personalization. Clear, grounded communication skills so you can explain complex technical topics to people who are technical and people who are not.
