Genesis10 is currently seeking a Red Hat Linux Administrator for a remote position with a Global Financial Institution located in Plano, TX. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. Seeking a highly experienced Red Hat Linux Administrator to support large-scale patching, upgrades, and operational management of a 5000+ server Hadoop ecosystem running on RHEL 8.x and 9.x. The role requires strong automation skills, hands-on troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to operate effectively in a high-availability enterprise environment. Responsibilities: - Perform OS lifecycle management, including software installations, kernel patching, system updates, OS upgrades, and library management - Manage and maintain Linux file systems, ensuring performance, capacity, and integrity - Execute and automate patching and vulnerability remediation using BladeLogic, Ansible, and shell scripting - Develop automation solutions to optimize repetitive operational tasks and improve efficiency - Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to OS failures, system performance degradation, and filesystem inconsistencies - Perform system failure analysis, recovery, and root cause analysis (RCA) - Support hardware and software configuration management - Provide production support and incident resolution in a large-scale distributed environment Requirements: - 8+ years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration in enterprise environments - Strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.x / 9.x, OS patching, upgrades, and system hardening - Proficiency in automation and scripting using Ansible, BladeLogic, and Bash/Shell scripting - Experience managing large-scale environments (1000+ servers preferred) - Strong experience with Linux builds, provisioning, filesystem management (LVM, XFS, etc.), and performance monitoring - Experience working in remote/distributed team environments - Experience with RedHat OpenShift and Hadoop Desired skills: - RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) certification - Experience with Hadoop ecosystem (Cloudera / Hortonworks or similar) and enterprise system management tools - Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking and client-server architectures - Familiarity with remote server management tools (iDRAC, IPMI, Redfish, etc.) - Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills in production environments Pay range: $55.06 - $63.06 per hour Only candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.
