Application Tester / QA Automation Tester – C#, Java, SQL & API Testing Work Location: Remote/Telework with required in-person meetings as needed Employment Type: Contract Contract Duration: September 7, 2026 – September 6, 2027 Number of Openings: 2 Schedule: Monday–Friday Hours: 8 hours per day Time Zone: Eastern Time Application Deadline: August 21, 2026 Pay Rate: $40/hour About the Opportunity The client is seeking experienced Application Testers / QA Test Analysts to support a high-priority criminal justice information-sharing platform. The selected testers will support the Information Sharing System (CISS), an integrated platform used to facilitate the secure exchange of criminal justice information across participating agencies while maintaining compliance with applicable state and federal CJIS security requirements. This position combines manual testing, system testing, User Acceptance Testing, API/Web Services testing, database validation, requirements traceability, defect management, and test automation framework development. The strongest candidates will bring 5–7 years of enterprise testing experience along with hands-on knowledge of C# or Java, SQL Server, SOAP UI/Postman, XML, automation frameworks, GitHub, and DevOps integration. What You’ll Do
- Create detailed test scenarios, use cases, test cases, and testing documentation based on project and system requirements.
- Execute system testing, functional testing, integration testing, regression testing, and User Acceptance Testing.
- Create comprehensive test-result reports for project managers and technical stakeholders.
- Develop and document repeatable testing processes for use by the broader QA/testing team.
- Support investigation, documentation, and resolution of software defects identified during testing.
- Enter, maintain, and track defects using approved defect-management tools.
- Perform testing activities for new system releases and enhancements.
- Validate delivered functionality against contractual and documented business requirements.
- Review and validate Requirements Traceability Matrices to ensure complete testing coverage.
- Test Web Services and APIs manually using SOAP UI, Postman, or similar tools.
- Validate XML-based integrations, including NIEM XML or other complex XML standards.
- Develop and maintain automation frameworks and automated test suites.
- Participate in the architecture and expansion of test-automation frameworks.
- Integrate automated test suites with DevOps processes.
- Develop and maintain data-driven automation testing solutions.
- Perform backend validation using complex SQL queries against Microsoft SQL Server.
- Troubleshoot complex issues within large integrated systems and assist technical teams in tracing problems to their source.
- Support Service-Oriented Architecture integrations and related system testing.
- Develop presentations and testing-status materials for stakeholders, leadership, and other interested parties when requested.
- Communicate test progress, defects, risks, and results to test leads and project management.
- Collaborate with developers, testers, designers, project managers, team leads, and other technical resources.
What We’re Looking For – Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Technology or a related technical field.
- 5–7 years of professional experience as a tester on IT projects.
- Experience with system testing and User Acceptance Testing.
- Experience creating test cases, test scripts, test results, and testing documentation.
- Experience validating business and system requirements.
- Experience supporting software-defect identification and resolution.
- Ability to understand the architecture and complexity of large integrated enterprise systems.
- Experience with NIEM XML or another complex XML standard.
- Hands-on experience manually testing Web Services using SOAP UI and/or Postman.
- Experience with SOA technologies.
- Experience developing complex SQL queries using Microsoft SQL Server.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of core programming languages, particularly C# or Java.
- Experience with automation testing.
- Ability to handle the full lifecycle of automation-framework development.
- Experience maintaining automated test suites.
- Experience integrating automated testing with DevOps.
- Proven experience with data-driven automation testing.
- Knowledge of automation-reporting tools such as Extent Reports.
- Working knowledge of GitHub.
