Art Buying and Photography Representation Expert

Role Title: Art Buying and Photography Representation Expert

Role Type: Contractor

Location: Remote

Opportunity Snapshot

Pay: $55 to $100 per hour

Location: Fully remote, worldwide

You’ll need: Professional experience commissioning, licensing or representing photographers or other visual artists for agencies, brands, publications or studios.

Your tasks: Review briefs, cost estimates and licensing cases, judge fit, price and usage terms, and explain your decisions in writing.

You’ll review briefs, estimates and image licensing situations and judge them: what makes sense, what is missing, and why. This is a good fit if you work as an art buyer, photo buyer, creative producer, photography agent or artist representative and make decisions about who gets hired, at what price and under what usage terms. You need professional experience commissioning or representing photographers or other visual artists, and clear written English.

Scope of Work

1. Look at a brief and decide which type of photographer or artist is the best fit.
2. Check cost estimates and flag items that are missing, padded or out of range.
3. Judge whether usage rights (media, territory, time, exclusivity) match what the client needs and what was paid.
4. Flag contract, release, insurance or logistics gaps that would cause problems later.
5. Write a short explanation for each decision so a reviewer can follow your reasoning.

What we’re looking for

1. Professional work as an art buyer, photo buyer, creative producer, agency producer, photography agent, artist representative or licensing manager.
2. Experience with real jobs: briefs, estimates, negotiation, contracts and delivery.
3. Working knowledge of image licensing and usage terms.
4. Comfort explaining why one choice or one price makes sense and another doesn’t.
5. Clear written English.

How the selection process works

1. Apply with your resume and a short profile.
2. Complete the curation interview. It is a short conversation about your experience with exhibitions, collections and attribution. You don’t need to prepare, look at anything or write anything. Finishing it is what moves your application forward.
3. Review. We check your experience against what the project needs.
4. Onboarding and first task. If selected, you get the guidelines and start with an initial task, which is reviewed before you continue.
