Chief Investment Officer

Role Description The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading the overall investment strategy and portfolio management activities at Trio Impact Invest. The CIO will design and implement investment frameworks for early-stage deeptech opportunities, oversee deal sourcing and evaluation, and lead due diligence on prospective investments. This role will manage portfolio construction, monitor performance, advise founders on value creation, and make recommendations to the investment committee. The CIO will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including university innovation offices, co-investors, and advisors, while ensuring robust risk management and compliance with relevant regulations. The position also involves continuous market analysis, development of investment theses, and representation of Trio Impact Invest at industry events and investor forums.

Qualifications

Strong expertise in Investment Strategies and Investments, including experience designing frameworks for early-stage and deeptech-focused portfolios. Proven track record in Investment Management and Portfolio Management, with responsibility for end-to-end investment processes and performance monitoring. Solid foundation in Finance, including financial modeling, valuation techniques, and risk analysis relevant to venture and early-stage investments. Demonstrated ability to evaluate technology-driven business models and work closely with founders and innovation stakeholders. Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to make clear, data-supported decisions. Leadership experience in an investment, venture capital, or asset management environment, ideally with exposure to deeptech or university spinouts. Advanced degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. Ability to work effectively in a remote setting, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across diverse teams and organizations.
