Commercial Real Estate Paralegal

Location: Lake Oswego, Oregon Compensation: Starting at $75,000 annually, with higher compensation negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Schedule: Full-time; in-person, with the possibility of remote work thereafter Bittner Hahs Postma Swan is seeking an experienced paralegal to support its commercial real estate transactional practice. The practice represents clients in the acquisition, disposition, management, and refinancing of commercial real estate, as well as lenders in commercial real estate financing transactions. The successful candidate will be highly organized, attentive to detail, comfortable working on complex transactions, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Retiring paralegal will remain available during the transition to provide support, cross-training, and continuity.

Qualifications

At least five years of relevant paralegal experience. Commercial real estate transactional experience is required. Borrower-side commercial real estate lending experience is preferred. Lender-side commercial real estate lending experience is also preferred. Experience forming various entity types and preparation of organizational documents. Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple transactions, deadlines, and competing priorities. Self-starter who can anticipate needs, take ownership of assignments, and work effectively without micromanagement. Professional confidence and judgment when communicating with sophisticated clients, opposing counsel, lenders, title companies, escrow officers, and other transaction participants. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, document-management systems, and transaction-closing processes. Proficiency with MyCase is not required, but beneficial.

Responsibilities

Assist attorneys with commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing, and related transactions. Support borrower-side and lender-side commercial real estate loan transactions. Prepare and revise transaction documents, closing checklists, signature packets, organizational documents, resolutions, certificates, and closing binders. Coordinate due-diligence materials, title and survey review, escrow requirements, entity records, and closing deliverables. Work on general business matters, including entity establishment, maintenance, and other corporate restructuring and corporate governance matters. Communicate directly and professionally with clients, opposing counsel, lenders, title and escrow personnel, and other parties. Track deadlines and outstanding items and proactively move transactions toward closing. Maintain complete, accurate, and well-organized electronic transaction files. Assist with post-closing matters, including document distribution, recording follow-up, and preparation of final closing sets. The position will initially require in-person work to facilitate initial training and cross-training. Remote work may be available after onboarding, based on demonstrated proficiency, business needs, and mutual agreement.
