Joining our team means becoming part of a purpose‑driven organization where every project you lead directly contributes to breakthroughs that matter.

Why This Role Matters

Our customers rely on brighthush to execute high‑impact laboratory projects that span multiple sites, vendors, and regulatory landscapes. As a Customer‑Facing Field Project Manager, you will be the linchpin that translates technical vision into tangible results on the shop floor. You’ll work side‑by‑side with scientists, facility managers, and equipment manufacturers, ensuring that each project is delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. This is a rare opportunity to blend deep technical expertise with strategic project leadership while traveling across New England, the Mid‑Atlantic, and the broader North American market.

Role Overview

Based in Boston, MA, you will own the end‑to‑end delivery of large, integrated laboratory service projects. The position is highly hands‑on, requiring frequent on‑site presence at customer laboratories. You will collaborate with internal engineering, service, and sales teams, as well as third‑party vendors, to orchestrate complex deployments that may include laboratory relocations, consulting engagements, and 3‑D lab design initiatives. Your success will be measured by the ability to keep projects on track, resolve issues in real time, and maintain strong, trust‑based relationships with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • On‑Site Project Execution: Lead day‑to‑day activities at customer sites, coordinating vendor deliveries, equipment installation, and validation activities.
  • Real‑Time Issue Management: Monitor project health, identify risks early, and implement corrective actions to keep momentum across multiple workstreams.
  • Solution Design & Scope Development: Partner with sales and engineering to translate customer needs into detailed project scopes, proposals, and technical designs.
  • Project Planning & Governance: Create and maintain comprehensive project plans covering scope, schedule, budget, resources, and quality metrics.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Facilitate regular status meetings, produce clear communications, and ensure expectations are aligned among customers, internal teams, and external partners.
  • CrossLab Solution Delivery: Oversee laboratory relocations, consulting services, and 3‑D lab design projects, ensuring documentation, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Vendor & Third‑Party Management: Manage relationships with equipment manufacturers, service providers, and subcontractors, negotiating deliverables and ensuring contractual compliance.
  • Data‑Driven Reporting: Leverage reporting tools to track key performance indicators, generate progress dashboards, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, adopt best practices, and embed Lean Six Sigma principles into project execution.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in a customer‑facing field project management role within laboratory or technical services environments.
  • Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to apply project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile) to complex, multi‑vendor initiatives.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication, with a track record of leading effective meetings and delivering clear status updates.
  • Customer Interaction: Demonstrated experience working directly with external customers, understanding their operational challenges, and delivering solutions that exceed expectations.
  • Technical Acumen: Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, equipment maintenance, and service workflows in busy lab settings.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness and ability to travel extensively (50%+ of the time) and spend sustained periods on‑site during critical project phases.
  • Data & Reporting Tools: Proficiency with data analysis and reporting platforms, such as Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.

Preferred Qualifications & Certifications

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
  • Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and/or GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) regulatory environments.
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical or broader life sciences industry.
  • Budget management expertise, including quote generation, purchase order processing, and invoicing.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, Smartsheet, SAP, Maximo (CMMS), or comparable enterprise software.

Core Skills & Competencies for Success

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex problems, evaluate data, and make informed decisions quickly.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in fast‑paced environments where priorities shift based on customer needs and project dynamics.
  • Leadership Presence: Confidently lead cross‑functional teams, inspire collaboration, and drive results without direct authority.
  • Detail Orientation: Meticulous attention to documentation, compliance requirements, and quality standards.
  • Negotiation & Influence: Skilled at managing vendor contracts, aligning stakeholder expectations, and achieving win‑win outcomes.
  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Passion for delivering exceptional service experiences that build long‑term partnerships.
