Data Engineer (Supply Chain)
About The Company LMI is a forward-thinking digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact through innovation and speed. We invest in technology and prototypes ahead of need, delivering commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready artificial intelligence to federal agencies at commercial speed. Our expertise spans defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors, where we help agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to driving impactful results that strengthen missions and deliver lasting value. About The Role We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer specializing in Supply Chain to join our team. The successful candidate will integrate and analyze complex datasets related to parts, suppliers, procurement, inventory, and risk to support critical industrial base decisions. This role involves building repeatable workflows that connect indentured parts lists to relevant government and commercial data sources, resolving inconsistent identifiers, and ensuring analytical findings are traceable to their origins. Working collaboratively with supply chain analysts and technical experts, the Data Engineer will identify potential constraints at scale and prioritize manual investigations for maximum impact. This position requires a blend of strong data engineering and analytical skills with a keen interest in defense logistics and supply chain challenges. The role supports both remote work and our Tysons, Virginia office and requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance.
Qualifications
Experience integrating, transforming, and analyzing data from multiple sources. Proficiency in SQL and Python or comparable data processing tools. Experience designing structured datasets, data pipelines, and quality assurance checks. Ability to resolve inconsistent identifiers and document matching methods and exceptions. Experience producing analytical outputs usable by nontechnical stakeholders. Strong collaboration and communication skills, including working effectively with subject matter experts. Ability to document assumptions, data provenance, and analytical limitations. Preferred: Experience with defense logistics, procurement, inventory, or supplier datasets. Preferred: Familiarity with NSNs/NIINs, CAGE codes, bills of materials, and assembly hierarchies. Preferred: Experience with entity resolution, graph analysis, or supply network mapping. Preferred: Experience developing lead-time, capacity, or schedule models in partnership with domain experts. Applicants must be U.S. citizens eligible for a U.S. Government security clearance.
Responsibilities
Ingest, clean, transform, and integrate datasets related to parts, assemblies, suppliers, procurement, inventory, and risk. Develop methods to match part numbers, NSNs/NIINs, CAGE codes, drawing identifiers, and other inconsistent records. Build and maintain a structured assessment dataset linking parts to higher assemblies, sources, evidence, risks, and actions. Automate repeatable screening processes and data quality checks, routing ambiguous matches for analyst review. Document data lineage, refresh dates, matching logic, and confidence measures for transparency and traceability. Develop analytical queries and views to identify long lead times, supplier concentration, stock-outs, delivery delays, and other potential constraints. Partner with domain experts to develop and validate lead-time, capacity, or schedule estimates where appropriate. Support rolling updates as new parts lists, procurement records, and supplier information become available. Translate user needs into practical data products and clearly communicate the limitations of the underlying data.
Benefits
Competitive salary range from $108,301 to $160,653.79 based on experience and qualifications. Remote work flexibility or onsite work at Tysons, Virginia location.
