Distinguished Engineer, Underwriting

Develop and implement innovative underwriting strategies to drive business growth and profitability. Lead and mentor a team of underwriters, providing guidance and support in decision-making and problem-solving. Conduct thorough analysis of market trends and competitor strategies to inform and enhance our underwriting approach. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales and marketing, to identify opportunities for process improvement and product development. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies in all underwriting decisions. Utilize technical expertise to evaluate risk and make sound underwriting decisions. Stay updated on industry developments and advancements in underwriting technology, and make recommendations for adoption as appropriate. Identify and resolve complex underwriting issues, providing guidance and support to team members as needed. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, to provide updates on underwriting strategies and results. Continuously monitor and analyze underwriting data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement training programs for underwriters and other team members. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the underwriting department. Represent the company at industry events and conferences, showcasing our underwriting capabilities and contributing to thought leadership.
