In an industry where clarity, compliance, and compassion are paramount, brighthush stands out by combining deep industry expertise with a culture that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or an ambitious newcomer, you’ll find a place at brighthush where your contributions matter and your career can flourish.

Why This Role Is a Game‑Changer

We’re looking for a reliable, detail‑oriented Administrative Assistant & Customer Service Representative who thrives in a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment. This role is more than a set of tasks—it’s an opportunity to become an integral part of a growing insurance and financial services team, to master industry‑specific systems, and to shape the way we support our clients. Starting with 15 hours a week, the position offers a clear path to increased responsibilities, higher pay, and the chance to transition into broader roles within brighthush’s expanding portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional, courteous customer service to employer clients and their employees via phone, email, and chat.
  • Handle inbound and outbound calls with confidence, ensuring every interaction reflects brighthush’s commitment to excellence.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, employees, insurance carriers, and vendors, maintaining clear, timely, and accurate records.
  • Assist with employee enrollments, terminations, eligibility changes, and other benefits administration tasks.
  • Track and follow up on service requests, ensuring all items reach completion within established deadlines.
  • Schedule meetings, calls, appointments, and follow‑ups, coordinating across multiple stakeholders.
  • Maintain meticulous notes and client information in our CRM and internal systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Support renewals and Open Enrollment administrative tasks, contributing to smooth, compliant processes.
  • Organize documents, correspondence, and electronic client files, keeping the system clean and accessible.
  • Follow established workflows, checklists, systems, and procedures, while proactively identifying gaps and suggesting improvements.
  • Identify missing information or potential issues, taking appropriate steps to resolve them before they impact service quality.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality when handling employee, health insurance, and business information, adhering to HIPAA and other privacy regulations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Strong phone etiquette and customer‑service mindset.
  • Prior experience in customer service or as an administrative assistant.
  • Highly organized, with excellent scheduling and follow‑up skills.
  • Detail‑oriented, ensuring accuracy in all tasks.
  • Reliable, consistent, and accountable—able to work independently.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable speaking directly with clients and resolving service issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willingness to learn CRM systems and carrier portals.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and good judgment.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, data security, and HIPAA compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in group health insurance, employee benefits, healthcare administration, HR benefits, or related financial services.
  • Familiarity with insurance carrier portals and benefits administration software.
  • Background in a fast‑paced, high‑volume call center or client‑service environment.
  • Previous exposure to compliance requirements such as HIPAA, GDPR, or similar data‑privacy frameworks.
  • Interest in pursuing a long‑term career within the insurance and financial services industry.

Skills & Competencies for Success

  • Communication: Clear, concise, and empathetic communication across multiple channels.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to quickly learn and navigate new software, portals, and data systems.
  • Time Management: Prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and juggling multiple service requests simultaneously.
  • Analytical Thinking: Identifying patterns, spotting missing data, and proposing solutions.
  • Adaptability: Thriving in a dynamic environment where processes evolve and new challenges arise.
  • Team Collaboration: Working effectively with cross‑functional teams—claims, underwriting, compliance, and finance.
  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Putting the client’s needs first while balancing internal priorities.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

At brighthush, we believe in nurturing talent. As you master the day‑to‑day responsibilities, you’ll be invited to:

  • Take on additional hours and responsibilities as the business expands.
  • Participate in specialized training on benefits administration, carrier portals, and compliance regulations.
  • Shadow senior team members in client negotiations, enrollment drives, and renewal strategies.
  • Explore cross‑departmental projects—such as supporting the owner’s financial advisory practice—providing exposure to a broader financial services ecosystem.
  • Earn certifications in benefits administration (e.g., Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) through our tuition‑reimbursement program.

Work Environment & Company Culture

brighthush offers a remote, flexible work environment that values work‑life balance. Our culture is built on:

  • Collaboration: Regular virtual huddles, knowledge‑sharing sessions, and open communication channels.
  • Innovation: Encouraging new ideas to improve client service and internal processes.
  • Integrity: Upholding the highest standards of confidentiality, compliance, and ethical conduct.
  • Growth Mindset: Continuous learning through workshops, webinars, and mentorship.
  • Recognition: Celebrating achievements, milestones, and contributions through virtual shout‑outs and rewards.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

While the role starts at $18 per hour for 15 hours a week, the compensation structure is designed to reward performance and commitment:

  • Hourly rate ranges from $18 to $20, with potential increases based on experience and workload.
  • Opportunity to transition from independent contractor to full‑time employee, unlocking additional benefits.
  • Access to a comprehensive benefits package—including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans—once you become a full‑time team member.
  • Paid time off, flexible scheduling, and a supportive remote work setup.
  • Professional development stipend for certifications, courses, and conferences.
  • Regular team‑building events, both virtual and in‑person, to foster camaraderie.
