Intake Coordinator

This is 100% remote position. CHLA requires a primary residence in California prior to start date.** Schedule: Monday-Friday, Shift hours will vary between 7:30 AM-5:30 PM Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Intake Coordinator provides support for the intake of all new patient referrals received and is responsible for providing customer service to community physicians referring their patients to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Responsible for call processing related to all activities of the physician referral call center number. Follows policies and guidelines for gathering the standard missing documentation needed for a complete referral to be processed. Serves as a liaison to the referring primary care provider’s office and patients and families to obtain the additional requirements to complete a referral. Enters patient/guarantor/insurance information in CHLA systems (as available). Responsible for maintaining medical record integrity by reviewing and updating documents into patient’s records, while maintaining confidentiality of those patient’s medical records. Organizes, updates, and maintains a worklist documenting progressing on tasks. Answers and screens incoming calls, takes and relays messages to specialty clinics and inputs information into patient’s referral file, as needed. Handles all referrals with a strong sense of customer service to patients, families and providers. Serves as the primary liaison between patient, CHLA, and community referring providers. In answering questions regarding their referrals. Answers and screens incoming calls while providing excellent customer service. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 5+ years of experience in a healthcare setting managing referrals and registration for patients; direct call center experience preferred. Education/Licensure/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of medical terminology coursework preferred.
