# Java Backend Developer – Kafka & Cassandra ## About the Role We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer with strong expertise in Kafka, Cassandra, Spring Boot, and Microservices to join a full-time remote team. The role requires hands-on software development experience and strong knowledge of core and advanced Java concepts and technologies. The ideal candidate will have an engineering and consulting mindset, enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and collaborate closely with business customers, architects, and team members to support technology transformation goals. ## Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend software using Java, Core Java, and advanced Java technologies. Develop and support microservices using Java and Spring Boot. Work hands-on with Kafka Connect and Kafka messaging and event streams. Develop and maintain applications using non-relational databases such as Cassandra and MongoDB. Apply knowledge of non-relational and document databases to determine appropriate technology choices. Write and maintain JUnit test cases. Work with cloud platforms including PCF and AWS. Develop and support applications in OpenShift and Kubernetes environments. Participate in Agile methodology, including estimation and key Agile ceremonies. Collaborate with business customers, architects, and team members on technical solutions. Contribute to client transformation goals through an engineering and consulting mindset. Learn and adopt new technologies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Participate actively in technical and business discussions. Work collaboratively across teams to support effective delivery and management. ## Required Qualifications 10 years of experience in Java, including Core Java and advanced Java concepts and technologies. Software development experience. Hands-on experience with Kafka Connect and Kafka messaging/event streams. Experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices. Experience writing JUnit test cases. Experience with cloud platforms such as PCF and AWS. Experience with NoSQL databases, including Cassandra. Strong understanding of non-relational document databases. Expertise in OpenShift and Kubernetes. Solid understanding of Agile methodology, estimation techniques, and key Agile ceremonies. Strong communication and collaboration skills. ## Preferred Qualifications Experience with MongoDB. Ability and willingness to learn new technologies.
