# Software Engineer – Dynamic Pricing & ML Infrastructure ## About the Role Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company focused on building the world’s most trusted driver. Within Transportation as a Service (TaaS), the Marketplace team develops core decision systems that support rider-to-vehicle matching, routing, supply and demand balancing, demand forecasting, and dynamic pricing across operating markets. The Pricing team develops dynamic pricing algorithms that balance supply, demand, user price sensitivity, fleet utilization, and profitability in real time. As a Software Engineer on the Pricing team, you will help scale Waymo’s core dynamic pricing engine, build and deploy machine learning and optimization models, and develop infrastructure for pricing experimentation, monitoring, and analysis. ## Key Responsibilities
- Implement and scale Waymo’s core dynamic pricing engine across operating markets.
- Develop and deploy machine learning models and optimization algorithms for real-time pricing.
- Build pricing solutions that balance supply, demand, user price sensitivity, fleet utilization, and profitability.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure for pricing experimentation, monitoring, and analysis.
- Partner with product data scientists to productionize innovative pricing models.
- Support pricing approaches such as route-specific and session-based pricing.
- Build reliable backend and distributed systems supporting pricing and marketplace functionality.
## Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of programming experience in backend coding languages.
- Experience building backend distributed systems.
- Experience developing machine learning or optimization infrastructure and pipelines.
- Prior experience building and deploying ML or optimization models into production environments.
## Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with C++.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience developing low-latency, large-scale, user-facing distributed systems.
- Experience working at a ride-hailing or marketplace company.

## Education & Experience
- Required: BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

## Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $175,000–$215,000 USD across U.S. locations.
- Actual starting pay depends on job-related factors including location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
