Position: Medical Coder (Inpatient) | $70/hr Remote Type: Contract Compensation: $50 - $70/hour Location: Remote Commitment: 10-40 hrs/week Role Responsibilities Review and analyze inpatient medical records for accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding. Review clinical documentation for accuracy and coding integrity. Identify principal and secondary diagnoses and assign Present on Admission (POA) indicators. Validate MS-DRG assignment and flag hospital-acquired conditions and patient safety indicators. Evaluate AI-generated clinical notes against real-world documentation and coding standards. Code AI-generated diagnostic and procedural information using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS classification systems. Identify and resolve discrepancies in diagnosis and procedure coding. Provide clear written feedback on coding errors and complex cases.
Requirements
Active certification in CIC, CCS, or other coding certification through AHIMA and AAPC. Strong relevant experience in inpatient ICD-10-CM/PCS coding. Access to up-to-date official ICD-10-CM/PCS coding books and Coding Clinic guidance. Currently working in inpatient medical coding or clinical documentation improvement.
