Principal AWS Terraform Architect | Dallas, TX | 1–2 Days/Month Onsite

Position: Principal AWS Terraform Architect Location: Dallas, TX (Dallas-based candidates only) Work Arrangement: Remote with travel required 1–2 days per month Onboarding Requirement: Mandatory in-person onboarding at either NJ or San Jose office. Role Overview We are looking for a highly experienced Principal Terraform Architect to lead enterprise-scale Infrastructure as Code (IaC) architecture, AWS infrastructure automation, Terraform module development, cloud governance, and platform engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate will own the enterprise Terraform module strategy, establish reusable infrastructure patterns, define governance standards, and support large-scale AWS cloud migration and modernization programs. Mandatory Skills & Qualifications 15+ years of overall IT / Cloud Engineering experience. 6+ years of enterprise-scale Terraform Architecture experience. Strong experience designing, developing, and governing enterprise Terraform module libraries (500+ modules and 1,000+ cloud resources). Extensive AWS Architecture and multi-account governance experience. Strong expertise in Terraform (HCL), Terraform Cloud / Terraform Enterprise. Hands-on AWS experience with EC2, VPC, IAM, EKS, ECS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, S3, and other AWS services. Experience with AWS Control Tower and Account Factory for Terraform (AFT). Strong knowledge of GitOps and CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CodePipeline, and ArgoCD. Experience implementing Sentinel / OPA policy-as-code and infrastructure governance. Hands-on experience with TFLint, Tfsec, Checkov, Terratest, and terraform-compliance. Expertise in Terraform state management using S3 and DynamoDB. Experience implementing Terraform validation, drift detection, remediation, security, and cost optimization. Strong experience with enterprise architecture reviews, code reviews, technical leadership, and mentoring Terraform engineers. What the Client Is Looking For The client is specifically looking for a Principal-level Terraform Architect who has built and governed enterprise Terraform platforms at scale , rather than someone with only Terraform implementation or scripting experience. The candidate should have experience establishing reusable Terraform modules, managing AWS multi-account environments, implementing enterprise IaC standards, enforcing security and compliance policies, and enabling cloud migration teams through standardized infrastructure automation .
