Project Manager - Commercial Electrical Construction
Job Title: Senior Project Manager – Commercial Electrical Construction Location: San Diego County, CA Salary: $125,000 Fee Terms: Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee commercial electrical construction projects ranging from small service jobs to large-scale projects valued at $3 million–$20 million. The ideal candidate will have strong project management, financial oversight, team leadership, and client relationship skills, with a focus on project profitability, quality, and timely completion.
Key Responsibilities
Manage commercial electrical construction projects, ensuring budgets, schedules, materials, subcontractors, and crews remain on track. Oversee project costs, expenses, billing requirements, and financial performance. Review project progress and maintain quality standards across all assigned projects. Manage change orders, scope changes, and associated payment requirements. Monitor contract compliance and minimize project risks and liabilities. Resolve project challenges, operational issues, and startup concerns. Coordinate with billing teams, project engineers, and other internal departments. Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for additional business. Mentor junior project managers and support team development. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements. Required Qualifications 5+ years of construction project management experience, preferably in commercial electrical construction. Experience managing projects valued at $3 million–$20 million. Strong understanding of construction budgets, scheduling, cost control, contracts, and change orders. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Accubid, Bluebeam, and Spectrum preferred. Familiarity with project management software, methodologies, and best practices. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Relevant continuing education or professional development. Experience mentoring junior project managers and coordinating with project engineers. Strong client relationship management and business development capabilities.
Work Environment
The position involves office-based work, occasional outdoor job-site visits, travel between project locations, and attendance at client or project meetings. Candidates should be comfortable working in varying environmental conditions and managing competing priorities under pressure.
