Purchasing Manager – Manufacturing Work Arrangement: Primarily Remote

• Preferred Location: Candidates located in the Savannah, GA area or within a reasonable distance are highly preferred. The position requires periodic onsite interaction, so proximity to the facility is strongly preferred.
• Travel: Required as needed to company facilities and vendor locations

RL Enterprise Recruiting & Staffing is hiring a Purchasing Manager for our manufacturing client in the Savannah, GA area. We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities and help ensure the company has the materials, products, and services needed to support production and business operations. This position will play a key role in supplier management, strategic sourcing, inventory planning, cost control, and supply-chain continuity. The ideal candidate will be a strong negotiator and relationship builder with experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or a related field. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who can balance day-to-day purchasing needs with long-term sourcing and cost-reduction strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Purchasing & Supplier Management

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies that support operational and production requirements
• Research potential suppliers and establish strong, long-term vendor relationships
• Evaluate supplier proposals, market conditions, pricing, and other purchasing data
• Present purchasing trends, recommendations, and opportunities to management
• Negotiate supplier agreements, pricing, payment terms, and other contractual conditions
• Monitor vendor performance and address service, quality, delivery, or pricing concerns
• Maintain accurate and current vendor information and records

Purchasing Operations

• Review and approve purchase orders in accordance with company policies
• Monitor open orders and track deliveries to ensure materials arrive when needed
• Work closely with Operations and Production to anticipate material requirements
• Help establish and regularly evaluate inventory minimum and maximum levels
• Balance inventory availability with cost-control objectives
• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and reduce unnecessary costs

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and support purchasing staff
• Provide guidance and training to purchasing team members
• Establish expectations that promote accuracy, accountability, efficiency, and strong supplier relationships
• Support the development of consistent purchasing practices across the organization

Cost Control, Compliance & Risk Management

• Monitor purchasing expenditures and support budget objectives
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and improved purchasing efficiency
• Ensure purchasing activities follow company policies, applicable requirements, and ethical business practices
• Identify potential supply-chain disruptions and proactively develop recommendations or contingency plans
• Communicate significant purchasing, supplier, inventory, or supply-chain risks to management

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain management, or a related field
• Previous experience negotiating vendor contracts and purchasing agreements
• Strong ability to build and maintain supplier relationships
• Strong analytical and research skills
• Experience evaluating pricing, market information, supplier data, and purchasing trends
• Ability to use data to support forecasting, inventory planning, and cost-control decisions
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising purchasing personnel preferred
• Manufacturing, steel, metals, or industrial purchasing experience is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Finance, or a related field preferred

Work Environment & Travel This is a primarily remote position with travel as needed to company facilities and vendor locations. Candidates should be comfortable traveling when business needs require. Compensation & Benefits
