[Remote] AI Software Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Gainwell Technologies is a healthcare technology company focused on improving health and well-being through technology solutions. The AI Software Engineer will develop and modernize a large-scale Java-based Immunization Information System, using AI-assisted development practices to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and support healthcare technology innovation.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java/Spring Boot applications and REST APIs
- Leverage AI tools such as GitHub Copilot and CodeX to accelerate development, testing, documentation, and code reviews
- Develop configurable workflows, business rules, reporting, and user-facing functionality
- Create and maintain automated unit, integration, and regression tests
- Collaborate with Product, QA, Architecture, and Business teams to deliver healthcare and public health solutions
- Participate in modernization initiatives and adoption of AI-driven engineering practices
- Ensure code quality, security, performance, and maintainability
Skills
- + 5+ years of experience in Java application development
- Strong experience with: - Java, Spring Boot - REST APIs - SQL (Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL) - JavaScript/TypeScript - Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, CodeX, Claude etc.)
- Knowledge of software design patterns, testing frameworks, and secure coding practices
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience with Healthcare, Public Health, Medicaid, or IIS systems
- Knowledge of HL7/FHIR interoperability standards
- Experience with configurable or metadata-driven application frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud-native development and DevOps practices
