[Remote] API Backend Developer/ Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Dice is seeking an API Backend Developer/Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs. The role focuses on building secure APIs, optimizing databases and application performance, integrating external services, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust, secure, and scalable APIs and backend services
• Design database schemas and optimize queries and application performance
• Integrate third-party services and external APIs
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Troubleshoot issues and collaborate with frontend, QA, and DevOps teams

Skills

• Strong experience with backend development and REST APIs
• Proficiency in Node.js / Java / Python / .NET or a similar backend technology
• Good knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases
• Understanding of authentication, API security, and system design
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Familiarity with Git, Docker, CI/CD, and cloud platforms is a plus
