[Remote] Backend Software Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Piper Companies is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join a technology-focused organization developing scalable networking and infrastructure solutions. The Backend Software Engineer will be responsible for building backend services, designing APIs, and supporting Linux-based systems that leverage virtualization and networking technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services utilizing Python or Go
- Build and support RESTful APIs that enable communication across distributed systems and applications
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and enhance networking-focused software solutions
- Work within Linux environments to optimize system performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Develop solutions utilizing virtualization and containerization technologies including QEMU, libvirt, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, testing, and deployment initiatives
- Support automation, monitoring, and reliability improvements across backend platforms
Skills
- 5-8 years of backend software engineering experience
- Strong programming experience with Python or Go
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, and routing protocols
- Experience with Linux systems programming and Linux internals
- Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as QEMU, libvirt, Docker, and/or Kubernetes
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs
- Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems and networking environments
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred
