Remote BCBA Fieldwork Supervisor
Remote BCBA Fieldwork Supervisor Remote | Part-Time | 1099 Independent Contractor | $50/hour BCBA-to-Trainee Supervision Only Before anything else, we want to be extremely clear about what the word supervision means in this position. You will be supervising future BCBAs who are accruing fieldwork hours. That is the role. You are not supervising RBTs, behavior technicians, or direct-care staff. You are not managing a clinical caseload. You are not conducting parent training. You are not working directly with children. You are not responsible for technician performance, call-outs, staffing problems, treatment implementation, parent concerns, or the day-to-day operation of anyone's case. There are no RBTs waiting for you to answer messages. There are no parents calling you with clinical emergencies. There are no children on your caseload. There is no direct-service component attached to this position. Your job is to meet remotely with BCBA trainees, teach and mentor them, help them develop strong clinical judgment, and supervise their fieldwork within our framework. When your scheduled trainee supervision is finished, your routine work is essentially finished. There are no expected unpaid or non-billable hours. Your work is overwhelmingly the scheduled trainee supervision itself. This Is Not an Insurance-Funded BCBA Position Applied Behavior Analysts was intentionally built outside the traditional insurance-funded service model. There is:
- No insurance billing
- No authorization chasing
- No utilization management
- No productivity quota
- No pressure to increase billable hours
- No insurance treatment plans
- No RBT caseload
- No technician management
- No parent-training caseload
- No direct work with children
- No clinical caseload
- No routine unpaid documentation burden
Because of that, this position should not be compared hour-for-hour with a traditional insurance-funded BCBA position. They are fundamentally different jobs. Traditional BCBA positions may carry substantially more clinical, administrative, staffing, documentation, and reimbursement-related responsibility. This one does not. For this role, the work is overwhelmingly the paid supervision time itself. We want BCBAs spending their professional time teaching future behavior analysts, not feeding an administrative machine. Who We Are Applied Behavior Analysts is a small, mission-driven private practice. We are not a nonprofit, but our model is built around many of the same values that attract people to nonprofit work: access, education, contribution, professional development, and doing work because it matters. Our practice provides caregiver support to families without billing insurance while BCBA trainees receive structured fieldwork experience and individualized BCBA supervision. The BCBA trainees conduct the caregiver-training work. You do not. Your role is to teach the trainees. We are looking for BCBAs who are interested in contributing to that mission and who may be ready for something very different from traditional insurance-funded ABA. What You Will Actually Do Your work will primarily consist of scheduled individual meetings with assigned BCBA trainees. During those meetings, you will:
- Provide BCBA fieldwork supervision
- Teach and mentor future BCBAs
- Help trainees strengthen clinical reasoning and behavior-analytic decision-making
- Discuss their fieldwork experiences
- Teach trainees how to apply our caregiver-training framework
- Give individualized feedback
- Help trainees connect behavior-analytic concepts to real situations
- Support their development toward competent, independent BCBA practice
We are not looking for someone to read slides at trainees or check supervision boxes. We want someone who likes to teach. Someone who can ask good questions. Someone who can explain why. Someone who wants the trainee leaving a supervision call better at behavior analysis than when the call started. You Will Learn Our Caregiver-Training Framework Our practice uses a specific framework for caregiver training. You do not need prior experience with our model. We will teach it to you. Training is paid and generally takes approximately 2 to 3 hours. You are learning the framework so that you can teach BCBA trainees how to use it. You will not be expected to provide caregiver training yourself. There is no complicated technology ecosystem to learn and no collection of new company systems to master. We are hiring BCBAs, and we expect BCBAs to use their professional judgment. The Kind of BCBA We Want This position will probably appeal most to someone who still loves behavior science but has become tired of everything traditionally wrapped around being a BCBA. Maybe you love teaching but do not want another clinical caseload. Maybe you enjoy supervision but never want to supervise another RBT. Maybe you are tired of productivity requirements determining how your professional time is spent. Maybe you want to contribute to the development of future BCBAs. Maybe you want meaningful professional work that you can finish when the scheduled meeting ends. If that sounds appealing, we want to hear from you. We care far more about your ability to communicate, teach, think critically, and mentor another professional than whether you have held an impressive administrative title. Early-career BCBAs are absolutely welcome. Minimum Requirements Applicants must:
- Hold active BCBA certification
- Have been certified as a BCBA for at least 1 year
- Have completed the BACB-required 8-hour supervision training
- Currently meet BACB requirements to supervise trainees accruing fieldwork
- Be willing to learn our caregiver-training framework
- Communicate reliably with assigned trainees
- Be comfortable providing individualized supervision and feedback
Assignments will only be made where the BCBA can appropriately and lawfully provide the applicable supervision. Compensation $50 per hour This is a part-time 1099 independent-contractor position and does not include employee benefits. Your compensated work is primarily your scheduled BCBA trainee supervision time. There are no expected unpaid or non-billable hours associated with this position. That distinction matters when considering compensation. A traditional insurance-funded BCBA position and this position may both have an hourly rate attached to them, but the responsibilities attached to those hours are not comparable. Here, there is no hidden pile of insurance documentation, staffing responsibility, RBT management, treatment-plan writing, productivity tracking, or administrative work waiting for you when the scheduled supervision ends. The supervision meeting ends, and so does your work. Schedule and Trainee Assignments This is a flexible, part-time remote position. The number of BCBA trainees assigned to you can grow based on your availability, fit, and interest. We are interested in building long-term relationships with strong BCBAs rather than loading people with more responsibility than they want. There May Be More to Build Here Applied Behavior Analysts is growing, and we are developing additional ways for BCBAs to contribute to our work over time. We want people who are interested in helping build something different. However, we do not want to oversell what does not exist yet. The position being offered today is BCBA-to-trainee fieldwork supervision at $50/hour. Anything that develops beyond that is additional opportunity, not a promise attached to this posting. Before You Apply This position is intentionally flexible, and the administrative burden is intentionally minimal. That does not mean the supervision itself is unimportant. The responsibility we care about is helping develop thoughtful, ethical, competent future BCBAs. We want supervisors who care whether the people they mentor become good behavior analysts. You do not need prior experience with our framework. You do need to be open to learning it and teaching trainees how to use it. You need to enjoy teaching. You need to communicate reliably. And you need to care about the quality of the professionals you help develop. If you are open to learning a different approach to caregiver training, enjoy mentoring future BCBAs, and have been looking for a way to practice behavior analysis outside the traditional insurance-funded model, we would like to hear from you.
