Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Crossing Hurdles is hiring a Cyber Security Engineer for a remote hourly contract role. The position focuses on creating cybersecurity scenarios and tasks covering security operations, incident response, forensics, threat detection, vulnerability testing, security tooling, and compliance frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Construct cybersecurity scenarios spanning security operations center monitoring, incident response, and forensics
- Build tasks across security operations, threat detection, and vulnerability testing
- Develop scenarios involving tools such as SIEM platforms, EDR tools, and vulnerability scanners
- Apply cybersecurity methodologies to standards like NIST CSF, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIS2
- Author rubrics that distinguish authentic security judgment from generic textbook recall
Skills
- Have strong relevant experience in the domain as a security engineer or CISO
- Direct ownership of incident response programs, security architecture, or compliance initiatives
- Fluency in security tooling and understanding of regulatory frameworks and threat landscape
- A recognized professional credential is strongly preferred (CISSP, CISM, or equivalent)
- Prior rubric or training authorship is a plus
