[Remote] Data Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Harrington Starr is hiring a Data Engineer for a fast-growing commercial data business. The role focuses on building a market-data platform from proprietary freight, commodities, and energy pricing data, including external API delivery, entitlements, metering, billing, onboarding, and data-quality controls. The engineer will also support provenance and point-in-time integrity for institutional users.
Responsibilities
- Entitlements, usage metering, billing and licence-compliance reporting
- API-first delivery for external consumers, including authentication, versioning, rate limits and stable identifiers
- Client onboarding and integration support
- Published data-quality metrics: coverage, gaps, staleness and anomalies
- Clear provenance and point-in-time integrity for institutional users
Skills
- Remote but must be based in the USA
- Who has built data products that external clients actually pay for
- Someone who has taken proprietary data and made it commercially usable: packaged, licensed, delivered and supported as a product for external customers
- Python, SQL and Azure experience are important
- Backgrounds in market data, exchanges, price-reporting agencies, broker data businesses or specialist data vendors will be particularly relevant
