[Remote] Data Engineer

The Azure Data Engineer will build and support healthcare data pipelines, transform clinical and operational information, and enable regulatory data exchange and interoperability using Azure technologies, SQL, and healthcare standards.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Extract, transform, and load healthcare data from multiple source systems
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models
- Build and support healthcare interoperability solutions utilizing FHIR standards
- Transform healthcare data into JSON and other required formats for external data exchange
- Collaborate with business, clinical, and technical teams to define data mappings and requirements
- Support regulatory healthcare reporting and compliance initiatives
- Troubleshoot and optimize data integration and processing workflows
- Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support activities
Skills
- 5+ years of Data Engineering experience
- Strong experience with:
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- SQL Development
- Data Modeling and ETL Processes
- Experience working with healthcare data
- Understanding of healthcare data integration concepts
- Experience working with structured and semi-structured data formats including JSON
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience with FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources)
- Experience with Edifecs products and healthcare interoperability solutions
- Experience with EDI transactions and healthcare data exchange
- Healthcare payer or provider industry experience
- Experience with PySpark
- Knowledge of HL7 and healthcare integration standards
- Experience supporting regulatory healthcare initiatives
