[Remote] Data Engineer - Python ,AWS, SQL - Remote

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Optum Insight improves the flow of health data and information to create a more connected healthcare system. The Database Engineer will design, automate, operate, and maintain large-scale data pipelines integrating clinical and claims data, while collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and consultants to build scalable, high-quality AWS data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test Redshift/EMR-based solutions and AWS infrastructure to support ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes within CI/CD pipelines
• Monitor system and data pipeline performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to improve data quality and operational efficiency
• Analyze and reconcile discrepancies between business expectations and data structures
• Collaborate with analytics and cross-functional teams to optimize, scale, and enhance data processing methodologies
• Provide recommendations and feedback on database design and data modeling decisions
• Support weekly and monthly data warehouse build and deployment processes
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including database objects, design specifications, and test plans
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute innovative ideas for new products and solutions

Skills

• 1+ years of AWS experience (such as Redshift, EMR, or S3)
• 1+ years of relational database programming experience (such as Oracle or SQL Server)
• 1+ years of Python programming experiences
• 1+ years of experience working with clinical and/or healthcare claims data
• Experience with CI/CD deployment pipelines and automated testing frameworks
• Experience in data modeling, database design, and query optimization for large-scale data warehouses
• Experience with big data frameworks and distributed processing technologies
• Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
