[Remote] Data Platform Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Renaissance Life & Health Insurance Company of America is hiring an experienced Data Platform Engineer to join their growing team. This role focuses on scaling the company's data platform and integrating it with the Azure ecosystem, while collaborating with various teams to ensure reliable and independent consumption of platform capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement the integration layer between the Microsoft Fabric platform and Azure services, including Azure API Management, Azure Data Factory, Event Hubs, and Azure Databricks
- Define data contracts, API standards, and integration patterns that enable partner development teams to self-serve against the platform
- Establish scalable platform architecture that can be extended as organizational needs evolve
- Partner with the AI Manager to ensure the data platform supports current and future AI and machine learning initiatives
- Build and maintain robust data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and related data platform tooling
- Implement data quality, governance, and lineage practices across the platform
- Drive platform reliability and performance by proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks
- Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and process improvements that advance the data platform roadmap
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or a related technical role
- Experience with Microsoft Azure data services and integration tools
- Ability to design scalable data platforms, pipelines, integrations, and data models
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, pipelines, and Lakehouse capabilities
- Familiarity with AI/ML data patterns and model pipeline support
- Knowledge of API design, integration patterns, and platform enablement
- Interest in learning new tools and applying automation or AI-enabled solutions responsibly
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Bicep preferred
