[Remote] Data Platform Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. SoTalent is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to support modern cloud data platform operations and development. The role focuses on Snowflake development, Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD automation, data ingestion, security, reliability, performance optimization, and analytics enablement, with a growth path toward senior platform engineering.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain Snowflake objects, schemas, roles, and security policies using established engineering patterns
- Develop and deploy database changes through automated CI/CD pipelines
- Configure and manage platform components supporting enterprise data operations
- Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with governance requirements
- Support continuous platform enhancement initiatives
- Manage and operate database deployment pipelines
- Implement database migrations through automated deployment processes
- Support continuous integration and continuous delivery for analytics and data engineering workflows
- Ensure reliable testing and deployment of database and transformation assets
- Improve release quality and deployment efficiency
- Support production deployment and operation of dbt models
- Collaborate with analytics engineering teams to ensure data is delivered in the structure required for reporting and analytics
- Build reliable, reusable, and scalable transformation workflows
- Improve data accessibility and quality for downstream consumers
- Configure, deploy, and maintain data ingestion pipelines
- Support ingestion from internal and external source systems
- Build and manage automated ingestion workflows
- Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline performance and reliability
- Ensure timely and accurate data availability
- Implement data access controls and security policies
- Apply masking, row-level access, and governance controls
- Support role-based access management initiatives
- Assist with ongoing security and compliance improvements
- Contribute to data protection best practices
- Monitor platform health and respond to alerts
- Investigate and resolve platform incidents
- Participate in on-call support rotations
- Support operational reliability and service availability
- Perform root-cause analysis following incidents
- Analyze and optimize query performance
- Improve efficiency of warehouse utilization and processing workloads
- Support platform cost optimization initiatives
- Apply established performance tuning techniques
- Contribute to platform scalability improvements
- Maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks
- Document platform configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
- Support onboarding and knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Ensure operational processes are clearly documented and repeatable
- Collaborate with senior engineers to learn platform architecture and engineering best practices
