[Remote] Data Scientist

Storm4 is partnering with a fast-growing energy analytics and forecasting company that develops market intelligence, forecasting, and quantitative modeling solutions for the power sector. The Data Scientist / Market Analyst will build and enhance power market and dispatch models, analyze complex datasets, assess market developments, and translate analytical findings into actionable insights.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and enhance power market and dispatch models across multiple regions and technologies
- Analyse large, complex datasets used within forecasting and optimization frameworks
- Perform quality assurance on forecasts, analytical outputs, and client deliverables
- Evaluate policy developments, market design changes, and emerging trends across US power markets
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate models into customer-facing platforms
- Translate complex market dynamics into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders
Skills
- Bachelor's degree or above in a quantitative discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Computer Science, or similar)
- Experience modelling battery energy storage systems (BESS)
- Knowledge of ISO/RTO market structures and capacity markets
- 3-5 years of experience within power markets, energy analytics, or related sectors
- Experience building power market, electricity price, or energy asset models
- Strong understanding of US electricity markets, market design, and regulatory structures
- Advanced Python skills, including experience with scientific computing libraries
- Experience with optimisation techniques and mathematical programming
- Exposure to cloud-based modelling or data environments
- Ability to communicate complex analysis to technical and non-technical audiences
- Track record of improving workflows through automation, advanced analytics, or AI-enabled tools
