[Remote] Engineering Manager
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. FutureTech Recruitment is partnering with a funded enterprise AI startup that builds and operates AI agents in production for large enterprises. The Engineering Manager will lead and grow a squad of 8–15 engineers, owning hiring, career development, performance management, budget and headcount planning, while driving delivery, AI adoption, and cross-functional alignment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a squad of 8-15 engineers - own hiring, career development, performance management, and budget/headcount planning
- Operate as a peer on a tight management team that meets multiple times per week and collectively owns all engineering department decisions
- Set the pace and challenge the status quo - create an environment where great engineers ship fast and learn from failures quickly
- Drive predictable, high-quality delivery - stand behind your team’s timelines and outcomes
- Make your team AI-native - turn individual AI experimentation into team-level results with better throughput and faster paths from idea to production
- Partner with Product, Delivery, and cross-functional teams to keep the squad anchored to real customer value
Skills
- 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years managing engineering teams of 8+ people - including hiring and performance management
- People manager and servant leader first - happy to stay out of code reviews and architecture decisions
- Was a credible software engineer earlier in career - enough technical foundation that senior engineers trust your judgment
- Hands-on AI fluency with something real to show - what you built, what models you used, what worked
- Must be based in the US or Canada - willing to travel every 6 weeks for in-person offsites
- Experience in conversational AI, voice AI, or real-time infrastructure a nice-to-have
