[Remote] FinOps Analyst
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Elios AI is hiring a FinOps Analyst to manage the cloud financial picture for a large federal program. The role analyzes cloud billing and usage data, develops forecasts and cost allocation views, identifies and validates optimization savings, and partners with finance, engineering, architecture, and program leadership on cloud cost decisions.
Responsibilities
- Analyze cloud consumption, billing, and usage data to find spending patterns, anomalies, and optimization opportunities across multiple accounts and environments
- Build and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual cost forecasts grounded in historical consumption, planned initiatives, and program requirements
- Stand up cost allocation, showback, and chargeback views that give visibility into spend by application, service, team, or program
- Track actuals against budget and forecast, then explain the variances to program and financial stakeholders in language they can use
- Identify optimization plays (rightsizing, idle resources, storage tiering, data transfer, commitments and reservations), track the approved ones through implementation, and validate the savings that actually materialize
- Build the recurring reporting layer: dashboards, cost and usage reports, forecast and variance packages for program leadership
- Partner with engineering and architecture to price out proposed architectures, migrations, and modernization work before decisions get made
- Balance the cost recommendation against mission requirements, reliability, security, and performance, and know when cheaper is the wrong answer
- Gather and document requirements, process flows, user stories, and acceptance criteria for FinOps processes and tooling
- Serve as the connective tissue between finance, program leadership, engineering, architecture, and cloud service owners

- Comfort gathering and documenting business and technical requirements, workflows, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Experience with user acceptance testing and solution validation
- Ability to take complex data and turn it into a recommendation a program director can act on
- FinOps certification, or an AWS or Azure cloud certification (FinOps Certified Practitioner, AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, Azure Fundamentals or Administrator Associate, Google Cloud Digital Leader)
- FinOps work inside AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or another government cloud
- Programs subject to FISMA, FedRAMP, or NIST requirements
- AWS Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports, Azure Cost Management, or comparable platforms

- SQL, Python, or PowerShell for analysis, reporting, and automation
- Building business cases and total cost of ownership analyses for cloud technology decisions
- Working directly with government customers and program leadership
Benefits
