[Remote] Full Stack Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Roo is a technology company that operates a veterinary staffing platform connecting veterinary professionals with animal hospitals. The Full Stack Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable marketplace features across mobile and backend systems, collaborate cross-functionally, contribute to architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and improve testing and platform reliability.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with product managers, designers, analysts, and engineers to deliver robust and thoughtful technical solutions that solve real business problems
- Design, develop, and maintain features across our stack, with a focus on scalable architecture, performance, and maintainability
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, contributing to both our React Native mobile app and backend services
- Participate in technical design discussions and make meaningful contributions to architectural decisions
- Lead by example through high-quality code, peer code reviews, and mentoring early-career engineers
- Own the testing lifecycle for your features—writing unit tests with Jest and end-to-end tests with Cypress
- Investigate and resolve production issues, improve observability, and contribute to platform reliability
- Partner with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth deployments, CI/CD workflows, and system performance
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices, and proactively introduce improvements to tools, processes, or technologies
Skills
- 2–4 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, with strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript
- Mobile development experience (e.g., React Native or another mobile framework)
- Experience with Node, Express, React, AWS, and relational databases
- Proficient at writing complex and efficient SQL queries
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Highly self-driven with a passion to solve problems and research solutions
- Extremely agile & flexible, since we are evolving continually
- Demonstrates empathy and collaboration within the team, across teams, and across functions
- Trustworthy with impeccable integrity, authenticity, and high ethical standards
- Great attention to details
- Can do positive attitude
- Experience working with a growing team and early stage startup strongly preferred
- Degree in Computer Science or relevant field preferred
