[Remote] IT Infrastructure Analyst
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Sumer is a values-led professional services group supporting small and medium businesses across the UK and Ireland. The IT Infrastructure Analyst will support a major transformation programme by migrating legacy infrastructure and cloud environments into a centralised, secure, and scalable Microsoft Azure platform. The role will collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to execute migrations, resolve issues, maintain governance, and transfer knowledge to internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Support the migration of infrastructure, systems, and services into Azure
- Assess and document existing environments (on-prem, hybrid, and cloud-based)
- Design and implement migration strategies (lift-and-shift, replatforming, or modernisation)
- Ensure security, compliance, and governance standards are maintained throughout
- Troubleshoot and resolve migration-related issues
- Collaborate with project managers to track progress and manage risks
- Produce clear technical documentation and handover materials
- Provide knowledge transfer to internal teams post-migration
- Servers and virtual machines
- Active Directory / Azure AD (Entra ID)
- File services and storage
- Line-of-business applications
- Support tenant consolidation and identity integration across multiple entities
Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including:
- Azure Virtual Machines, Networking, Storage
- Azure Migrate and related tooling
- Azure AD / Entra ID, identity management, and hybrid identity
- Proven experience delivering infrastructure migration or transformation projects
- On-premises environments (VMware / Hyper-V)
- Existing cloud platforms (Azure / AWS)
- Networking (VPNs, firewalls, routing)
- Security best practices in cloud environments
- Backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Experience with Microsoft 365 tenant migrations
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience within professional services or accountancy firms
- Familiarity with accountancy platforms such as CCH & IRIS
- Azure Landing Zones
- Infrastructure as Code (e.g. ARM, Bicep, Terraform)
- Endpoint management (Intune)
- Data migration tools and strategies
