Remote Japanese Linguistic Experts - AI Trainer ($50-$50 per hour)

Mercor is seeking experienced Japanese Linguistic Experts to join a cutting-edge AI research project in partnership with a leading research lab. This role centers on evaluating how effectively a large language model (LLM) performs in Japanese-language tasks and on curating high-quality Japanese linguistic data to train and improve the model's understanding and generation capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Evaluate the quality and accuracy of LLM-generated Japanese text across various use cases (e.g., translation, summarization, dialogue, grammar correction). - Edit, refine, or rewrite Japanese content to meet linguistic and cultural standards. - Annotate Japanese text for grammatical, syntactic, and semantic features. - Identify model errors and language gaps, and collaborate with AI researchers to improve LLM performance. - Provide detailed linguistic feedback and analysis to guide ongoing model training efforts.

You're a strong fit if you have:

- Native or near-native fluency in Japanese, with excellent command over grammar, syntax, and stylistics. - Professional experience in translation, editing, linguistic annotation, or NLP data work in Japanese. - Strong understanding of linguistic nuances, regional variations, and context-appropriate usage. - Interest in AI and LLM-driven language technologies (preferred but not required). - Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot subtle errors or unnatural phrasing. - Clear communication skills and experience working in distributed, remote teams.
