[Remote] Lead Data Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Harnham is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to help shape the future of its data platforms. The role will provide technical leadership while designing scalable ELT pipelines, owning data integrations and modeling, influencing architecture and platform strategy, resolving customer-facing data issues, and mentoring engineers.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical leader within the Data Engineering team
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ELT pipelines
- Own data modeling, transformations, and customer data integrations
- Lead architecture discussions and make recommendations on technical direction
- Improve platform scalability, reliability, observability, and performance
- Troubleshoot customer-facing data issues and drive long-term solutions
- Partner with Engineering, Analytics, Customer Success, and Implementation teams
- Establish engineering best practices and technical standards
- Mentor and coach other engineers
- Influence roadmap and future platform strategy
Skills
- • 7+ years of overall experience, including 5+ years in Data Engineering
- • Advanced SQL expertise
- • Strong Python experience focused on data engineering and ELT workflows
- • Deep experience building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines
- • Strong data modeling experience
- • Airflow or similar orchestration framework experience
- • Experience working with large datasets and varying levels of data quality
- • Ability to evaluate architectural options and communicate technical trade-offs
- • Experience leading technical initiatives from design through implementation
- • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- • Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience
- • Experience with leading a team of 3-5 individuals

- • PostgreSQL
- • Dagster, Astronomer, or similar orchestration platforms
- • MPP database architecture experience
- • Healthcare or health-tech data experience
- • Experience across multiple database technologies
- • Customer-facing analytics or reporting environments
- • Data platform modernization or migration experience
- • Staff, Principal, or Lead-level engineering experience
