[Remote] Lead Data Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Dice is hiring a Lead Data Engineer to guide a small data engineering team and modernize a cloud-based data platform. The role focuses on designing and optimizing data warehouses and ETL/ELT pipelines, improving platform reliability and scalability, and establishing engineering best practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and perform code reviews for a team of engineers
- Design and optimize cloud-based data warehouse solutions and ETL/ELT pipelines
- Improve platform performance, scalability, and data reliability
- Partner with development teams to support enterprise data initiatives
- Establish best practices for architecture, testing, monitoring, and data quality
- Evaluate and implement modern data engineering technologies
Skills
- 5-6+ years of data engineering or backend engineering experience
- * Prior leadership or team management experience
- * Strong SQL and Python skills
- * Experience with cloud data warehouses (AWS Redshift preferred)
- * Hands-on experience building data pipelines and data warehouse solutions
- * Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt, or similar)
- * Experience modernizing legacy data environments is a plus
