[Remote] Lead Platform Engineer with Python
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. EPAM Systems is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to join an Engineering Platform Team supporting a major automotive services company. The role focuses on building scalable developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, DevSecOps capabilities, CI/CD automation, and AI-assisted engineering practices while providing technical leadership and mentoring.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop reusable GitHub Actions
- Build and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and release automation
- Drive DevSecOps, security, compliance, and operational excellence
- Establish AI development standards using Claude Code and GitHub Copilot
- Mentor engineers through architecture guidance, design discussions, and code reviews
- Collaborate with Product Owner and Scrum Master on planning and delivery
- Participate in production support and continuous platform improvement
Skills
- 5+ years of experience in software or platform engineering
- Proven technical leadership with strong mentoring and ownership skills (1+ years)
- Advanced proficiency in Python
- Expertise in AWS and Terraform
- Skills in GitHub Actions, GitHub Enterprise, and CI/CD
- Background in Infrastructure as Code, Docker, and Linux
- Competency in DevSecOps, operating production services, and security tooling (SonarQube, CodeQL, Veracode)
- Familiarity with PagerDuty for incident response
- Daily hands-on experience with Claude Code and/or GitHub Copilot
- Understanding of prompt engineering, LLM fundamentals, and AI-assisted software development
- Capability to introduce AI into engineering workflows
- Strong written documentation skills
- Excellent command of written and spoken English (B2+ level)
- Showcase of Anthropic Claude Code in real-world engineering scenarios
- Background in DevOps practices
- Knowledge of TypeScript and/or Node.js
