[Remote] Lead Software Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Cognizant is a digital services and technology company. The Senior Full Stack Engineer will design, build, and deliver scalable cloud-native software solutions, owning features across backend services, data platforms, APIs, and user interfaces. The role also involves AI-assisted development, DevSecOps practices, secure delivery, and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, cloud-native applications, translating complex business requirements into robust technical solutions
- Own end-to-end delivery of features across backend services, data platforms, APIs, and user interfaces while making pragmatic technology decisions
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle to improve engineering productivity while maintaining accountability for quality, security, and performance
- Build reliable and secure solutions by embedding DevSecOps best practices, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and monitoring capabilities
- Partner closely with product, business, security, and platform teams to communicate technical decisions, manage risks, and drive successful business outcomes
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 12+ years of experience designing, developing, and deploying enterprise-grade software solutions
- Strong experience building full-stack applications using modern technologies such as Python, Vue.js, APIs, and cloud-native architectures
- Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and modern software delivery practices
- Experience using AI-powered engineering tools and workflows throughout the software development lifecycle
- Strong understanding of secure software development, CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and operational excellence
- Proven ability to collaborate directly with business stakeholders, influence technical decisions, and work effectively in fast-paced environments
- Experience designing solutions in ambiguous environments and rapidly validating concepts through prototypes and proof-of-concepts
- Expertise in cloud architecture, microservices, and distributed systems design
- Experience implementing observability frameworks, monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices
- Strong understanding of AI agent workflows, automated quality gates, and software engineering productivity patterns
- Demonstrated success leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineering teams
