[Remote] Machine Learning Research Engineer | Remote
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. STEM Sync AI is a company focused on artificial intelligence and research-oriented evaluation of advanced language models. The Machine Learning Research Engineer will contribute to physics benchmarks by solving, reviewing, and validating complex problems, while developing problem setups and solution validators in Python and working independently in remote compute environments.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to research-grade physics benchmarks used to evaluate advanced language models
- Solve, review, and validate complex physics problems across multiple specialized subfields
- Work asynchronously with a fully remote, flexible schedule
- Earn $80-$135 per hour, with weekly payouts via Stripe or Wise
- Typical commitment of ~10 hours per week over an 8-10 week project window
- Independent contractor engagement with opportunities for project extensions
- Help produce fully human-verified reference solutions for frontier physics reasoning
Skills
- Graduate-level training in statistics, applied mathematics, or a relevant STEM field
- Proven proficiency with at least one specialized statistical, mathematical, or scientific software package
- Strong Python skills for writing problem setups and solution validators
- Ability to work independently and refine problem designs based on feedback
- Comfortable working in a Linux/terminal environment with remote compute sandboxes
