[Remote] Mechanical Engineering Expert
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Great Value Hiring is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Expert to solve and validate engineering problems across design, analysis, simulation, testing, and R&D. The role involves building computational models, automating simulations with Python, evaluating results, troubleshooting technical issues, reviewing AI-generated engineering solutions, and improving designs for performance and manufacturability.
Responsibilities
- Solve and validate mechanical-engineering problems involving design, analysis, simulation, testing, or R&D
- Translate physical systems and engineering requirements into analytical or computational models
- Create or modify geometry, meshes, materials, loads, contacts, constraints, and solver inputs
- Perform structural, thermal, dynamic, fatigue, buckling, vibration, or related analyses
- Use Python to automate model preparation, simulation, parameter sweeps, optimization, postprocessing, and verification
- Analyze stress, strain, displacement, temperature, heat flow, deformation, frequency response, safety factors, and other relevant outputs
- Compare simulation results with hand calculations, experimental data, reference cases, or expected physical behavior
- Diagnose invalid geometry, mesh problems, convergence failures, incorrect boundary conditions, and unrealistic outputs
- Review AI-generated engineering solutions and identify reasoning errors, incorrect assumptions, and violated physical constraints
- Develop clear, reproducible reference solutions and objective validation checks
- Iteratively improve designs for performance, mass, strength, stiffness, thermal behavior, reliability, or manufacturability
Skills
- • An MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- • A BS in Mechanical Engineering plus at least 1 2 years of relevant professional experience in mechanical design, analysis, simulation, testing, or R&D
- • Strong understanding of applied mechanics and mechanical-engineering fundamentals
- • Experience developing analytical, computational, or simulation-based engineering solutions
- • Practical proficiency with Python
- • Experience with at least one mechanical-engineering, geometry, meshing, or simulation tool that can be operated through a CLI, scripting interface, configuration files, or programmatic API
- • Ability to select and justify loads, boundary conditions, material properties, physical assumptions, and model fidelity
- • Ability to troubleshoot simulations and determine whether results are physically reasonable
- • Ability to explain engineering decisions, limitations, and trade-offs clearly
- • Relevant tools may include CalculiX, Gmsh, Elmer, FEniCSx, CadQuery, OpenSCAD, OpenFOAM, or similar programmatic engineering software. Experience with an equivalent CLI-accessible tool is acceptable
- • Relevant Python tools may include NumPy, SciPy, SymPy, pandas, Matplotlib, Jupyter, CAD or meshing APIs, finite-element libraries, optimization packages, or domain-specific scientific tools
