[Remote] Modular Design Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CyberCoders is recruiting a Modular Design Engineer to support prefabricated building production. The role creates manufacturing-ready CAD and BIM deliverables, including shop drawings, parts lists, BOMs, material takeoffs, and CNC-ready files, while coordinating SMEPF systems and supporting factory and site teams. The engineer will also improve CadWork and Revit workflows, ensure documentation quality, and resolve constructability and manufacturing issues.
Responsibilities
- Produce accurate, manufacturing-ready CAD and BIM drawings for modular, panelized and volumetric building systems using CadWork and Revit
- Translate architectural and structural designs into detailed shop drawings, part breakdowns, BOMs, material takeoffs and CNC/export files for direct factory production
- Coordinate SMEPF (structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire) interfaces within models and drawings to ensure clash-free prefabrication and efficient on-site assembly
- Develop and maintain standard drawing templates, families, and component libraries to support repeatable prefab production and modular building design
- Work closely with production planning, factory supervisors and site teams to resolve constructability issues, optimize componentization and ensure manufacturability
- Generate and deliver kit lists, cutting schedules, nesting files and assembly instructions to the factory floor; revise documentation based on production feedback
- Perform quality checks on drawings and models to ensure dimensional accuracy, tolerances and compliance with project requirements and building codes
- Support project teams during design reviews, shop drawing approvals and site/installation phases as needed, providing technical guidance and problem solving
- Continuously improve processes for CadWork/Revit workflows, CNC integration and data handoff to increase efficiency and reduce rework in direct factory manufacturing

- • 3+ years hands-on experience in prefabrication, modular building design, panelized or volumetric construction within commercial or residential sectors
- • Proven proficiency in CadWork and Autodesk Revit for producing manufacturing-ready shop drawings and BIM deliverables
- • Practical experience with direct factory manufacturing workflows, CNC file generation, nesting, and production data handoff
- • Demonstrated ability to coordinate SMEPF systems within models and resolve multidisciplinary clashes prior to fabrication
- • Strong understanding of modular construction principles, componentization, tolerances and on-site assembly requirements
- • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to design, production and site teams
- • Familiarity with building codes, material specifications and QA/QC processes relevant to prefab manufacturing
