[Remote] PostgreSQL Database Administrator
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Yochana is seeking a highly experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to manage enterprise-scale database environments. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure PostgreSQL systems, optimizing performance, supporting high availability and recovery, and mentoring junior team members.

- Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure database environments
- Mentor junior team members and drive best practices across the organization
Skills
- 8+ years of hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL in production environments
- Strong expertise in PostgreSQL architecture, internals, and performance tuning
- Proven experience with replication (streaming, logical), clustering, and high availability solutions (e.g., Patroni, repmgr, Pgpool-II)
- Deep understanding of backup and recovery tools (pg\_dump, pg\_basebackup, pgBackRest, Barman, WAL archiving/PITR)
- Expertise in query optimization, indexing strategies, and EXPLAIN/ANALYZE plan tuning
- Solid experience with database security: roles, permissions, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest/in transit
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or Perl) for automation
- Experience with monitoring tools (pgAdmin, pg\_stat\_statements, Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog, or similar)
- Solid understanding of SQL and PL/pgSQL for stored procedures, triggers, and functions
- Experience with version upgrades and major migration projects
- Strong troubleshooting skills for performance, connectivity, and data integrity issues
