Remote Full-time Now Hiring

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The C++ Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and growing the C++ ecosystem through infrastructure, tooling, documentation, and community initiatives. The Rust Developer will design, build, and maintain Rust-based tools, services, CLI applications, and infrastructure while owning features from design through deployment and contributing to reliable, well-documented engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Rust-based tools, services, and CLI applications
  • Own features end to end, from design and implementation through testing and deployment
  • Write clean, well-tested, well-documented, production-grade Rust
  • Participate in code review, architecture discussions, and technical planning
  • Diagnose and resolve performance, reliability, and correctness issues in production systems
  • Contribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling
  • Document technical decisions clearly for both internal and public audiences

Skills

  • 3+ years building production systems, with significant Rust experience (professional or substantial open-source)
  • Strong grasp of Rust's ownership model, concurrency primitives, and async ecosystem (Tokio or async-std)
  • Experience building and maintaining CLI tools, services, or backend systems in Rust
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals: testing, version control (Git), CI/CD, and code review
  • Strong written communication, since much of our work is asynchronous and clear documentation and PR descriptions matter
  • Self-directed and comfortable in a remote, distributed team
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects, ideally in Rust or developer tooling
  • Experience with WebAssembly, FFI, or cross-language tooling
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and deployment (AWS, Docker, etc.)
  • Prior experience with a nonprofit, foundation, or open-source-focused organization

Benefits

  • Remote, distributed team
