[Remote] Senior Backend Software Developer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Slate is developing safe, reliable, customizable electric vehicles and is seeking a Senior Backend Software Developer to help build its digital customer experience. The role leads software architecture, implementation, delivery, testing, technical decision-making, and collaboration with UX and product teams, while mentoring other engineers.

Responsibilities

• You lead the definition, design, architecture, implementation, and delivery of Slate software
• You code and test system components, leading code and design reviews
• You own end-to-end code quality, system tests, functional tests, and integration
• You relentlessly simplify, demonstrating significant innovation, creativity, and judgement when solving challenging problems
• You collaborate with UX and product teams to build and invent new solutions and applications that put customers first
• You are considered an authority on technical issues by the technical and business community and are frequently consulted for making difficult trade-off decisions
• You drive awareness about the impact and consequences of technical decisions on the business, balancing technical leadership with strong business judgment to make the right long-term decisions about technology choices
• Support the career development of others, mentor individuals and the community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members

Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• 6+ years of professional software development experience
• 6+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language, such as TypeScript, Python, Java, etc
• 6+ years of experience working with cloud services from AWS and/or Azure
• 4+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• 4+ years of experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Proficient use of LLM technologies and prompt engineering development patterns
