[Remote] Senior Data Engineer/Architect - Remote

Genesis10 is a staffing and recruiting company seeking a Senior Data Engineer/Architect for a remote contract-to-hire position supporting a major healthcare company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The role focuses on designing and implementing scalable cloud-based data solutions using Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, Medallion Architecture, and modern data modeling practices, while supporting healthcare data analytics, governance, and modernization initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Snowflake
- Implement and support Medallion Architecture frameworks (Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers) to enable trusted, high-quality analytics
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support reporting, analytics, and operational data needs
- Optimize data ingestion, transformation, and storage processes to improve performance, reliability, and scalability
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data architects, analysts, and application teams to understand data requirements
- Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance standards are met
- Support enterprise data warehouse modernization and cloud migration initiatives
- Analyze complex healthcare datasets and translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Skills
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or related disciplines
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Snowflake
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- SQL
- ETL/ELT development
- Data Modeling (dimensional and relational)
- Experience designing and implementing Medallion Architecture or similar modern data lakehouse frameworks
- Proven ability to build and optimize large-scale cloud-based data solutions
- Strong understanding of data governance and data quality best practices
- Experience within the healthcare or health insurance industry
- Knowledge of healthcare data domains such as:
- Claims
- Member/Subscriber Data
- Provider Data
- Enrollment
- Clinical or Population Health Data
- Experience with Azure cloud services and modern data platform architectures
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and data privacy requirements (HIPAA)
