[Remote] Senior DevOps Platform Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. SoTalent is hiring a Senior DevOps Platform Engineer to build and support secure, scalable cloud and DevOps platforms. The role focuses on cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, CI/CD automation, security and compliance, operational reliability, developer enablement, and technical leadership.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure environments
- Architect and support cloud-native platforms across multi-cloud environments
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to automate provisioning and platform management
- Deploy, manage, and optimize Kubernetes-based container platforms and cloud infrastructure services
- Ensure platform reliability, availability, scalability, and performance through engineering best practices
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation frameworks
- Implement GitOps practices and automated deployment strategies to streamline software delivery
- Support developer self-service capabilities and platform automation initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement of software delivery processes and DevOps maturity
- Integrate testing, security validation, and compliance controls into software delivery pipelines
- Administer and support enterprise DevOps platforms, including artifact management, code quality, deployment automation, feature management, and GitOps solutions
- Manage software artifact repositories, governance controls, and repository lifecycle management
- Maintain code quality and security scanning platforms while supporting engineering teams
- Support feature flag management and progressive delivery practices to improve release flexibility and risk management
- Develop reusable templates, standards, and automation tools to improve developer productivity
- Implement secure software delivery practices across the development lifecycle
- Support software supply chain security, dependency management, vulnerability remediation, and governance initiatives
- Establish and maintain security controls within cloud and DevOps environments
- Ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and industry security requirements
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to implement controls, audits, and risk mitigation strategies
- Develop automation solutions using modern scripting and programming languages
- Build operational tooling that improves reliability, efficiency, and self-service capabilities
- Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to enhance productivity and platform operations
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational standards, and engineering best practices
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement across platform and engineering services
- Provide advanced troubleshooting, incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution
- Support critical platform services through operational readiness and on-call responsibilities
- Monitor platform health, application performance, and infrastructure stability
- Implement observability, monitoring, and reliability engineering best practices
- Coordinate platform upgrades, maintenance, and modernization initiatives
- Partner with engineering, architecture, security, infrastructure, and operations teams to deliver platform solutions
- Serve as a subject matter expert for cloud, DevOps, automation, and platform engineering technologies
- Mentor team members and promote technical excellence across the organization
- Lead platform modernization, governance, onboarding, and adoption initiatives
- Participate in Agile delivery practices and cross-functional planning efforts
Skills
- 📍 Location: Oak Brook, Illinois, United States (Remote - Candidates must resides in IL)
- 💼 Work Setting: Remote (Continental U.S.) with occasional travel
- • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered
- • 7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, systems administration, or related technical disciplines
- • 5+ years of hands-on DevOps engineering experience
- • Experience designing and supporting cloud infrastructure solutions
- • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies and tools such as Terraform
- • Experience building and managing CI/CD platforms and automated software delivery pipelines
- • Hands-on experience managing containerized workloads and Kubernetes platforms
- • Experience administering enterprise DevOps and software delivery platforms
- • Strong understanding of software supply chain security, vulnerability management, and dependency governance
- • Experience with Linux and Windows administration
- • Advanced scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages
- • Experience supporting enterprise-scale developer platforms and engineering enablement initiatives
- • Familiarity with monitoring, observability, platform reliability, and operational support practices
- • Experience operating within regulated or compliance-driven environments
- • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
- • Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and DevOps practices
