[Remote] Senior DevOps/Platform Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. EPAM Systems is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps/Platform Engineer to join its Platform Operations & Engineering Team. The role focuses on modernizing store POS systems across edge locations by maintaining observability pipelines, building edge infrastructure, and developing CI/CD GitOps workflows.
Responsibilities
- Execute infrastructure enhancements across edge locations using Oracle Linux, Docker, Kubernetes (K8s/K3s), Helm, Kustomize, and Ansible
- Deploy and maintain containerized applications in distributed edge computing environments
- Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices and ensure high availability of POS systems
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, GitHub Actions, and ArgoCD
- Set up automated testing, security scanning, and deployment processes
- Manage GitOps workflows and optimize deployment efficiency
- Deploy and configure FluentBit, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and Grafana
- Establish comprehensive logging, metrics collection, and distributed tracing
- Create dashboards, alerts, and support incident response activities
- Develop platform tools, scripts, and automation to support development teams
- Enable self-service capabilities and automate operational tasks while ensuring security best practices across all implementations
- Collaborate with the Systems Architect, development teams, and participate in agile ceremonies, creating technical documentation and sharing knowledge with team members
Skills
- 3+ years of experience in DevOps or platform engineering
- Hands-on experience with Linux administration (Oracle Linux preferred), Docker, and Kubernetes
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) and GitOps practices
- Proficiency in observability tools such as FluentBit, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and Grafana
- Competency in Ansible, Helm, and Kustomize alongside infrastructure as code
- Skills in scripting (Bash, Python) and automation
- Understanding of edge computing and distributed infrastructure challenges, including monitoring strategies for distributed systems
- Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps environments
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent communication skills for engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to work in cross-functional agile teams, self-motivated with a strong ownership mentality
- Flexibility to adapt to fast-paced, dynamic environments
- Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher
- Experience with secrets management and secure configuration practices
- Knowledge of networking, load balancing, and service mesh technologies
- Understanding of high-availability and disaster recovery principles
- Capability to mentor junior team members and document solutions
- Background in retail/POS environments highly preferred
