[Remote] Senior Full Stack Engineer (NodeJS + React Native)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Throne is a fast-growing Series B startup transforming public infrastructure by delivering clean, safe, smart restrooms to cities, transit agencies, and public spaces. The Senior Full-Stack Engineer will own features end to end across Node.js APIs, React/Next.js web dashboards, and React Native mobile applications, while driving architecture decisions, refining product requirements, and partnering with product in a high-autonomy environment.

Responsibilities

• Own features end to end: design, scope, prototype, build, test, ship, and refactor across API, web, and mobile
• Translate ambiguous product requirements into clear technical scope - data models, API contracts, and implementation options with their trade-offs
• Drive architecture decisions for new and existing services to support our constantly increasing scale, and back them with evidence (measured performance, capacity, failure modes)
• Lead feature and story refinement; research and analyze the impact of new capabilities before they are built
• Partner proactively with product to clarify priorities, resolve ambiguity, and turn them into deliverable tasks. Raise the engineering bar through code review and shared standards
• Use AI-assisted development tooling (Claude Code) with good judgment to increase your leverage in scoping, code review, implementation, and ramping quickly on unfamiliar systems

Skills

• This role is eligible to work remotely within the United States. Minimal domestic travel should be expected
• * 7+ years of commercial full-stack software development experience
• * 3+ years of production experience with React Native, including cross-platform (iOS + Android) apps shipped and maintained through app-store releases
• * Excellent engineering judgment and a solution-driven way of thinking
• * Strong proficiency with JavaScript / TypeScript
• * Strong proficiency with Node.js and Express
• * Production experience with React and NextJS
• * Production experience with both SQL and NoSQL data stores
• * Experience with real-time systems (WebSockets, event-driven architectures)
• * Hands-on experience operating on AWS (ECS or EKS, Lambda, Cognito, SQS, CloudWatch)
• * Comfort owning ambiguous problems and communicating technical decisions clearly in writing
• * Experience with embedded / IoT systems (ex. MQTT, device fleets)
• * Serverless and micro-services architecture
• * Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• * Data-intensive or optimization/algorithmic work; big-data solutions and data warehousing
