[Remote] Senior Fullstack Software Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Ascension is a nonprofit Catholic health system focused on reimagining healthcare through service, growth, care, and connection. The Senior Fullstack Software Engineer will design and deliver secure cloud-native applications, Java microservices, RESTful APIs, and responsive front-end interfaces for critical patient care experiences while mentoring junior engineers and maintaining high standards for testing, security, and code quality.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of secure, high-performance Java microservices and cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform to power critical patient care experiences
- Build modern, responsive front-end user interfaces using Next.js, React, and TypeScript to ensure intuitive digital journeys for clinicians and patients
- Design, deploy, and manage scalable RESTful APIs and distributed systems following strict test-driven development and architectural best practices
- Conduct thorough code reviews and enforce automated unit testing to guarantee platform security, high availability, and code quality
- Mentor junior engineers through paired programming and design discussions to foster technical growth and engineering excellence across the team
Skills
- High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required
- 1 year of experience required
- 5 years of professional fullstack software development experience building cloud-native applications in an Agile environment
- Expert-level proficiency in Java and Spring Boot paired with strong hands-on experience in Next.js or React.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Documented experience building microservices and managing cloud infrastructure within Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- 4 years of experience preferred
- 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred
