[Remote] Senior Mobile Software Developer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. VAS builds technology that helps dairy producers operate more efficiently, make better decisions, and manage farm operations. The Senior Mobile Software Developer will modernize and evolve a React Native application, focusing on offline-first architecture, Bluetooth device integration, synchronization, scalability, and performance while providing technical leadership and mentoring.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain React Native application features
- Build reliable mobile experiences that perform seamlessly online and offline
- Design and improve local data storage and synchronization capabilities
- Contribute to application architecture, scalability, and long-term technical direction
- Collaborate with Product, UX, QA, and Engineering to deliver high-quality solutions
- Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers
- Continuously improve engineering practices, code quality, and team effectiveness
- Occasionally visit customer farms to better understand user workflows and identify opportunities for innovation
Skills
- 6+ years of professional mobile application development experience, including strong expertise with React Native
- Experience designing and building scalable, maintainable mobile applications using sound software architecture and engineering best practices
- Experience developing applications that support intermittent or offline connectivity, including local databases and mobile synchronization strategies
- Experience integrating Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or similar hardware/device communication into mobile applications
- Experience working in Agile software development environments using Jira, Gitflow, and modern CI/CD practices
- Demonstrated ability to mentor developers, lead technical initiatives, and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
- Interest in learning about agriculture and leveraging technology to improve farm operations
- Willingness to travel to customer locations within the U.S. up to 15% as needed
- Native Android or iOS development experience is a plus
